The Butt Lift: Silicone vs. Fat Transfer

Featured on such television program as MTV’s “True Life” and Bravo’s “The Shahs of Sunset,” Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Payam Jarrah-Nejad, M.D., F.I.C.S., F.A.C.S. is often asked for his opinions regarding the type of butt lift Beverly Hills patients should place their trust in. While the older type of silicone implant style still exists, Dr. J – as the surgeon is known to his patients and coworkers – prefers the newer technique often referred to as the Brazilian butt lift in Beverly Hills and elsewhere.

The key difference between the techniques is that, in place of synthetic implants, the Brazilian method employs the patient’s own unwanted fat obtained from elsewhere in the body via liposuction. The fat is then used in the procedure to sculpt a larger, more curvaceous backside that will flatter the patients’ overall appearance.

Dr. J prefers this technique for two primary reasons. First of all, using the patient’s own fat significantly reduces the chances of an infection following the procedure. At the same time, using actual tissue from a patient not surprisingly results in a very natural look and feel for the newly improved derriere. Patients agree that the results of this procedure give them the kind of results they were hoping for.

While every patient is different, and not everyone is going to end up with a physique reminiscent of a Kim Kardashian or Nicky Minaj, the results of Brazilian type of butt lift have proven to be consistently positive for the large majority of patients.
