Welcoming Our Out of Town Patients
Dr. Payam Jarrah-Nejad, known more familiarly as “Dr. J,” has treated patients from throughout the nation and all over the world. Our practice warmly welcomes out-of-town and international patients. We will gladly assist you as we employ a concierge approach to booking your surgery.
Below, we have outlined what you can expect from your experience as an out-of-town patient coming to visit Dr. J for plastic surgery. These simple steps will illustrate how the process typically works:
Contact the offices of Dr. J. We can be reached by phone at 310-228-3151 or via email through our contact page.
You will then receive instructions for scheduling a virtual consultation. The consultation is typically conducted via Skype or sometimes by phone. The purpose of this consultation is to provide you with a more comprehensive understanding of the surgery process and to decide whether you are a good candidate for the planned procedures, just as Dr. J would do in person.
As part of your virtual consultation, you will submit your current photos for evaluation and, to do so, will be provided with a dedicated, confidential email address. These images should be clear and preferably presented against a solid-colored background. Depending on the procedure, the photos should include full-length views from the front, side, oblique (turned at a 3/4th angle), and a full back view when applicable.
Along with the photos, you will be asked to fill out our New Patient Registration paperwork. This will allow Dr. J to review your medical history and other relevant information. Of course, your photos and paperwork will be kept strictly confidential.
Once you and Dr. J have decided to go forward with the procedure, our surgical consultant will help you with the details of planning your trip to our office in Beverly Hills, California. Our consultant will discuss all the pre-and post-operative requirements, fees, and financing options and walk you through what you can expect during your surgical journey.
Typically, we require one to four months of advance notice to schedule your surgery; however, this can be expedited depending on the type of procedure and our scheduling availability. To secure your surgery date, we require a non-refundable deposit which is deducted from the total surgery fee and will be collected at the time of the booking.
Because patient safety is our number one concern, we may need to verify that you are in good health and require lab work to be completed before your surgery. In some cases, we may request clearance from your primary care physician or specialists.
You will need to arrive at least 24 to 48 hours prior to the date of your surgery to ensure there is sufficient time for all the necessary pre-operative arrangements. It is suggested that patients stay in the Greater Los Angeles area a minimum of one week (seven days) and, if required, two to three weeks after the surgery to allow for a proper recovery time and post-op visits. Subsequent follow-ups may be conducted virtually.
Recovery – After Your Surgery
For your safety, we request that our out-of-town patients bring a relative or a trusted friend as a chaperone for their surgery and the recovery period. Your companion should be able to stay with you throughout your recovery in the Los Angeles area. We can also accommodate you with a variety of medically trained caretakers or private nurses. Our surgical consultant will assist in arranging your transportation, after-care facility, and post-operative visits.
Depending on the planned procedures, we encourage many of our patients to stay at an accredited after-care facility. An after-care facility dedicated specifically to post-operative recuperation will ease and promote the recovery process. Our patients enjoy private, luxurious accommodations with round-the-clock nursing care and full meals while ensuring the correct medication regimen. The nurses at this facility work closely with Dr. J and know every individualized post-operative protocol, enhancing your surgical experience and ensuring proper recovery. *
*The after-care facility is an independent entity. All fees associated with after-care hotel stays are separate from Dr. J Plastic Surgery.
