The Dr. J Difference
It begins with a greater level of raw ability; it includes esthetic talent but also the kind of knowledge, judgment, and skills that can take many years to fully master. While these things can be hard to quantify, Dr. J’s status as a double-board certified plastic is one important sign of his commitment.
To begin with, patients should only consider plastic surgeons who are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). This documents that they have the full complement of knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to perform surgery. It’s usually obtained at the end of a long process during which they are typically urgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) before going through the additional two years of work required to become a plastic surgeon.
While most plastic surgeons let their original general surgery ABS certification lapse in favor of certification in plastic surgery, Dr. J feels both sets of credentials ensure that he maintains the knowledge and abilities that allow him to provide care that is at the highest level possible. He believes that double board certification means he can consistently create the kinds of extraordinary outcomes you can see at our before-and-after galleries covering such procedures as breast augmentation, mommy makeovers, and Dr. J’s very own Natural Butt Lift®.
Finally, as a top plastic surgeon with extraordinary ability, Dr. J’s extremely high level of knowledge and skill also allows him to perform procedures while reducing bleeding and other surgical trauma to an absolute minimum. This translates into more rapid recovery and less postoperative discomfort following all types of plastic surgeries.
A Personal Touch
As a leading plastic surgeon in Los Angeles and nationwide, Dr. J has appeared on national television programs and at conferences and other medical events worldwide. Unlike some of the more media-focused celebrity plastic surgeons, however, he prefers to limit his media appearances so he can focus on his patients instead of courting the media spotlight.
As a great plastic surgeon, Dr. J’s availability to his patients is, in fact, one of the many things that patients often praise about their experience with us. While many plastic surgeons talk about the importance of patient communication, Dr. J. is committed to the importance of building genuine rapport.* Dr. J believes that patients should fully understand the nature of their procedure and just what they can expect during their recovery and from their final outcomes. Patients regularly rave about the kindness and sensitivity and approachable demeanor of Dr. J as well as his entire team of outstanding medical professionals.

The Road to Beverly Hills
Not one becomes a first-rate Los Angeles plastic surgeon overnight. Young Payam Jarrah-Nehad began his surgical career in the early 2000s with a residency at NYU’s prestigious teaching hospital. He also served in the role of Chief Resident at Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey, managing the other residents in the hospital’s teaching program.
Next came a hand surgery fellowship at New York’s Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. J credits his experience in working with the delicate bones and muscles of the hand as important preparation for the even more delicate work of a plastic surgeon. Dr. J moved on to a residency at Michigan’s Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center where he spent the next few years training in the intricacies of plastic surgeries, assisting and learning from many of the world’s finest plastic surgeons.
Dr. J moved to Los Angeles to start his own practice and quickly established himself, working with such noted medical institutions as Cedars Sinai Medical Center and Saint John’s Health Center, where he maintains privileges until this day. He opened his first Beverly Hills Medical Office in 2008 and quickly became well-known as a truly excellent plastic surgeon working in one of the world’s most competitive climates.
Over the years, the doctor has built up a worldwide following via social media and word of mouth. As perhaps the best plastic surgeon in Greater Los Angeles, Dr. J’s patients come from all of California, the entire United States, and from around the world.
A Widely Respected Plastic Surgeon
Aside from his board certifications with the ABPS and the ABS, Dr. J is an award-winning physician who has been recognized by nearly every relevant organization in his field. Specifically, he is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons and his work has been published in multiple areas of surgery has been published in an assortment of publications. He is equally fluent in both English and Farsi.
PRO BONO WORK
Dr. J has long been performing procedures pro-bono with such organizations as Operation Smile, which provides medically necessary plastic surgeries to young children in developing nations. On one particularly eventful trip to Chile in 2012, his work took him beyond the typical cleft palate procedures when his presence made an enormous difference in the life of a toddler who had been attacked by a feral dog in a nearby village. While local doctors most likely would have been able to save the child’s life, the young boy would have been badly disfigured, perhaps indefinitely, if Dr. J hadn’t been there to reconstruct the child’s face and give him a chance at a normal and productive life.
For Dr. J, his volunteer work is an extension of his regular day-to-day job. Whatever the procedure, he sees all of his work as part of his commitment to helping all of his patients to get the most out of their lives. This is one more reason why patients recognize him as a truly great plastic surgeon.
