Blepharoplasty (Eyelid lift surgery)
Our eyes are our most expressive facial features. Many of us believe they offer a glimpse into a person’s psyche; they definitely have a huge impact on our overall facial appearance. Renowned Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. J is a master of the art and science of eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty) and he is here to give the windows to your soul the treatment they deserve!
Why You Might Get an Eyelift from Dr. J
Looking someone directly in the eyes is one of the most powerful ways one human being can engage with another. When we look straight into a mirror and see dark circles or baggy eyelids that droop, our self-confidence can suffer. Cosmetic matters aside, very baggy eyes can also harm our peripheral vision.
Payam Jarrah-Nejad, M.D., F.I.C.S., F.A.C.S., better known simply as Dr. J, has had great success performing blepharoplasty on all kinds of people who want to see and be seen as their very best. His eyelid lift gallery shows why his patients are consistently delighted with their outcomes and why he remains one of the most sought-after physicians in the highly competitive Greater Los Angeles area
Choose the Best
Dr. J notes that blepharoplasty involves working with the delicate muscles around the eye; while all plastic surgery calls for great delicacy and skill, it’s especially true with eyelid procedures. The doctor therefore strongly cautions that prospective patients should only consider board-certified plastic surgeons to ensure they have the necessary skill and knowledge to perform procedures safely and effectively.
Dr. J is double-board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. While most doctors only maintain their plastic surgery certification, Dr. J argues that also keeping up his certification in general surgery ensures that he has access to the full array of knowledge and skills he needs to perform the very best work. Moreover, he consistently earns enthusiastic five-star reviews from former patients on social media sites like Yelp and RealSelf.
Is Eyelift surgery Right for You?
Most healthy patients who want blepharoplasty can obtain it. However, the only way to make certain you’re a candidate for eyelifts with Dr. J is to schedule a one-on-one consultation. During the appointment, the doctor will take a detailed look at the state of your eyes and overall medical history. If Dr. J believes a procedure would be appropriate, he will explain the most likely outcomes to ensure that you have a clear idea of what to expect. If the patient wishes to go further, the doctor will develop a customized treatment plan designed to ensure the best outcome possible.
Blepharoplasty can either be performed on its own or in combination with other surgeries. Performing procedures simultaneously may be optimal for patients who are also interested in work such as a facelift or rhinoplasty. This approach allows the doctor to coordinate the surgeries to ensure that they are in aesthetic harmony. It may also be more efficient in terms of reducing the total recovery period for the procedures as well as costs.
How Does Blepharoplasty Work?
When Dr. J performs eyelifts, he painstakingly removes excess skin, fat, and sometimes a small amount of muscle tissue on the upper and lower eyelids. The goal is to create a tighter, more alert appearance that will also provide an optimal field of view.
Once a surgery with Dr. J is completed, patients are taken to the recovery area of his Platinum Surgical Center. In most cases, they will be able to return to their residence immediately after being cleared by our medical team. However, since the procedure involves both local anesthesia and sedation, it will be necessary to arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home as well as to have someone stay with you the first night after the surgery.
What to Expect During Recovery
Before you leave our center, Dr. J will provide prescriptions, particularly antibiotics to prevent infection as well as other medications to reduce discomfort and speed healing. You will also be given detailed instructions on what to do during your recovery to ensure the best outcomes.
You may experience some minor temporary symptoms following blepharoplasty. These may include light sensitivity, vision issues, bruising, watery and/or puffy eyes, as well as minor discomfort that can typically be handled with over-the-counter medications. Over time, these symptoms should diminish rapidly. In most cases, patients may return to work and other daily activities about 10 days after the procedure.
Patients should notice significant positive changes in their appearance a few weeks after the procedure. Further improvements will continue to become apparent for up to a year.
